Whats the differance between ceiling white paint and regular wall white paint?

ceiling paint is much whiter flat finish, and much less expensive. Most walls are painted a matte, eggshell finish, or semiglossWhats the differance between ceiling white paint and regular wall white paint?
I use semi-gloss enamel for every wall. I buy the 5 gal. bucket and paint till I'm done. There is no such thing as a ';one coat';. Every wall takes two or more coats.Whats the differance between ceiling white paint and regular wall white paint?
Ceiling paint is basically a flat finish white paint with little washability(since ceilings usually don't get fingerprints and dirt smudges it doesn't have to be too durable).

So called flat wall paint can also be used on a ceiling,a lot of ppl get hung up on labels, just because it says 'wall paint' on the can doesn't mean it can't be used anywhere else.

Most flat paints arn't very washable, the most popular finish for walls is eggshell which has a slight sheen although Benjamin Moore has a matte finsh which is basically a flat with durability...it's a bit more expensive then their regular flat.

The next gloss level is satin which has more sheen(then eggshell) then semi-gloss which is pretty shiny, usually used on trim, woodwork and doors. There is also a high gloss which is extremely shiny and very washable, but many ppl don't use it because it's too 'plasticy' looking.

If the surface to be painted has a lot of imperfections you may be better off with a flat or eggshell because you'll see less of the imperfections then if you use a shiny paint.

Also, flat paints are not recommended for bathrooms because they tend to mildew faster then glossy paints, especially the ceilings.
