What is the least messy way to paint a ceiling ?

I have a painting pad, but wondering if there might be some other hints out there. What is the least messy way to paint a ceiling ?
you can buy a roller with a spatter guard, they work pretty well. What is the least messy way to paint a ceiling ?
Use good paint for one. It drips less. And a good roller. I use the old fashioned rollers with an extension stick. I also roll it a lot in the paint pan before going to the ceiling. Whether I am doing the wall or the ceiling the first thing I do is the border with a brush. I rarely use the tape. Take your time and don't rush.
Use ceiling paint! It's made thicker and you can roll it on using an extension pole without a bunch of splatters but cover everything with drop cloths.Use the pad for the edges.
There are non-spattering rollers available at the hardware stores. Ask about them and any other choices they might have for you. Painting pads can still spatter or drip.
Magic markers or crayons.
paint doesnt drip from a sponge roller if you use a little paint.
use a non drip paint and use the new dulux paint master its great
