My living room ceiling needs paint and crown. Walls are coffee, trim color is cream. Color for ceiling?

I am keeping the trim the same. Should I paint the trim and the ceiling the same cream color? The ceiling is white now and the room just looks unfinished. Would painting the ceiling, the trim and the crown moulding the same color look good?My living room ceiling needs paint and crown. Walls are coffee, trim color is cream. Color for ceiling?
It depends on if you want to highlight the crown molding or if you want it to blend in.

If you want it to visually disappear, then paint the ceiling %26amp; the molding the same color. Although the molding won't be as noticable, this will make the room look taller.

However, if you want to see the molding, then either paint the ceiling the same color as the wall or some other shade. OTOH, this can tend to make the room look shorter.

You could also paint the ceiling a shade or two lighter than the trim without going complete white. That will give you a little bit of contrast while maintaining the sense of height.

Play around with colors using this online visualizer on living room #2 to get some perspective:

Ceiling white is the name of the color. No matter what the walls are.
I'd paint the crown molding the same as the trim, and the ceiling a color similar to, but lighter, than the walls (a color that is about half way between the trim and wall).

If you are adventurous, you could do a faux copper ceiling.
crown moulding is suppose to give the effect that it is supporting your ceiling so you do not paint it the same colour as your ceiling or trim you always paint it the same colour as the walls.
Actually now of days you can paint the ceiling the same as the walls if you like. If not go with a neutral color like beige, taupe or eggshell.
