How to remove texture paint from ceiling?

my house has texture paint on all the ceilings. it is not so much popcorn ceiling paint. How to remove texture paint from ceiling?
First, a word of caution. Many texture paint products sold through the 1980's contained some amount of asbestos. OK if it stays up, could be a problem as you take it down.

If anything is going to work, the misting with water followed by scraping is the best bet. Some materials used for texturing will not come down this way, in which case you are left with sanding with coarse (80 grit) sanding screen followed by a fine (150 grit) sanding screen or paper or skim coating with drywall topping compound. How to remove texture paint from ceiling?
Get it wet, then use a trowel to get the majority of it off. Then go over it with a rough grit sandpaper to even it out.
The only way I know of is to scrape or sand it off. Hard tiring work.
if it does not scrap off easy your a better off to just put a skim coat over it to smooth it out.
use a spray bottle of water to spray the ceiling then use a scraper off some kind then scrape the wet spot you sprayed with water it should come off...
wet the ceiling w/ a wet sponge then lightly scrape w/ a 4in drywall knife. You will then be able to sand smooth w/ 220 grit sandpaper. Repeat until smooth.--Munro products
Soak it with a garden sprayer and scrape it off with a flexible 6'' trowel.

Try different trowels if you have some laying around, some work better than others.
