Do you do think I should paint the ceiling the same as the walls?

We are repainting the walls in a rec. room. They are going to be a light neutral tan/beige color. Do you think it would be okay to paint the ceiling the same color or leave it white? We are thinking about putting up some crown molding if we paint the ceiling the same as the walls. What do you think?Do you do think I should paint the ceiling the same as the walls?
I always paint the ceilings. In my eyes, it finishes the room and leaving it white looks to me like someone threw a big bedsheet over the room. When I have white crown molding, having the ceiling painted really makes the molding pop and when it is stained the grain of the wood is simply stunning.Do you do think I should paint the ceiling the same as the walls?
I'd paint the ceiling white and still put white crown moulding up. It will draw the eye up and make the room seem larger.
paint it a slightly lighter color, then the ceiling will seem higher and the room bigger. if you paint it the same color, you might get a claustrophobic effect.
I think it looks better if you leave the ceiling white--- it will make the room feel bigger and not so boxed in (not sure how big your rec room is) Then again, since I have never painted the ceilings it might look good too--

Leave the ceilings white for about 2 weeks and re-evaluate
IN MY EXPERIENCE IN PAINTING I WOULD LEAVE THE CEILING WHITE... THE LIGHTER THE CEILING THE MORE OPEN THE ROOM LOOKS.... IF YOU MATCH IT TO YOUR WALLS IT CONDENSES THE ROOM TO MAKE IT LOOK SMALLER....
I don't know it maybe a little bit much having it all one colour but then again you said it was going to be a neutral colour so it won't be that bad.

Sorry to confuse even more but I think you should paint it the same because white ceiling might look odd.

Hope that helps, Happy painting %26lt;:o)
No because it will actually make the room look smaller. its better if you were to use a lighter color on the ceiling so there will be some contrast. Some people usually stick with white... but since you'll be using a tan/beige color you can choose something lighter in that color scheme.
I did that this last time we painted and it made it so much easier without all the cutting in. I think it looks fine, my in-laws did it as well and their place looks great!
No, make it a different color or leave it.

Same color on walls and ceiling is usually a no-no unless maybe they're both white.
it depends if you use dark colors the room will look smaller and hotter if u use light colors ur room will look bigger and less hot so since ur useing light colors u should
no
Leave the ceiling alone, it gives a more open feeling if the ceiling is painted white. It becomes a more dramatic feeling when it is plain, and the room feels bigger. And especially if you plan to put crown molding on it, leave it white! Happy Painting!
i think if you paint the celing the same color as the walls everything will just blend together. but if you paint it a differnt color then it will add a little more to the room.
paint the ceiling white the room will look bigger
No I think you should leave the ceiling white! You don't want the room to be overwhelming. Besides leaving it white makes the room appear larger.
leave it white painting the whole room tan it will make the room look really small
I personally like to keep the ceiling white. I think that white makes the walls appear taller.
I think it depends on the ceiling height. Unless your ceiling are really high (9' or more) you risk making the room look smaller.

Why not go with off white color or something a few shades lighter than the walls.
I would leave the ceiling lighter, unless you have a very high ceiling. If you prefer having it all one color and have high ceilings, that would be ok.

If you put up the molding, then you'll have to worry less about the cutting-in, assuming the molding and the walls are the same.

Another suggestion that I have heard about is to vary the colors on the walls by adding a bit of white paint before painting one or more of the remaining walls after painting the first one or two with the original color chosen.

That way the difference is not obvious, but varies the intensity of color enough to make a less bland appearance having all the walls exactly the same--especially in a smaller room.
I would paint it the same colour.
the darker color on your ceiling could take away light from your room. i would paint it white and the walls in a half and half contrasting color... like ...... tan and beige
i think it would be fine. I personally dont like tan with white so I would like it better than leaving it..goodluck and have fun
i would paint the ceiling off white or cream because if you paint it the same color as the walls it will be way to overkill on color.
Light colors are usualy most pleasing for a ceiling, because ceilings are seen in shadow. If you'd like the ceiling to match the wall color, buy ceiling paint one or two shades lighter than the wall color (on its color chip). Or, dilute your wall color with white paint in a ratio of 25% color to 75% white.
ya paint it the same itll look good specially with the crown molding maybe in white
