Can I apply flat paint to a ceiling previously painted with semi-gloss?

first of all you have to know whether or not it is oil based paint or latex. if it is latex then yes it would be fine but if it is oil then it might still have a sheen to it just depends on the color.it would still be a good idea if you prime it first but get the primer tinted whatever color you plan on painting the cieling. then i would apply atleast 3 to 4 coats to insure that it covered well. Can I apply flat paint to a ceiling previously painted with semi-gloss?
You would need to lightly sand it, wipe it down with a moist, not wet, cloth, and let it dry. Then you need to wipe it down with a tac cloth. I personally would put a stain-blocker like Kilns on first. If you do it right, you won't have to do in again. Can I apply flat paint to a ceiling previously painted with semi-gloss?
Use the same type of paint (latex with past latex and oil if oil in past) then use a primer first.
Yes, and since you'll know right away if you missed a spot, and if your like me and dont have an eye for painting, paint is now available that goes on purple and drys white. Available at a Lowes or HD.
